As of today, it is June, the meterological beginning of summer, and the weather is with us. For the first time in a row, it has been warm, sunny and pleasant to sit outside, meet with friends and spend wonderful evenings. For me, there is nothing better than enjoying this time of the year. I've been thinking about which songs make the start of the new season easy for me, but there are too many of them to rank. With this in mind, just a few songs that came to mind ad hoc and without completeness or ranking. A good start into the new season to all.
A few days ago some songs came to my ear that I didn't listen before. I don't know why I didn't heard any songs from Jacques Dutronc before. Maybe we were all focused in the early 60's to British and American artists at these days and we thought that French musicians couldn't play Rock 'n' Roll. Back in 1960 he formed his first band with himself on guitar. After he finished his duty in French army he started a career as a songwriter especially for Francoise Hardy. In the mid 60's he release a few albums with songs sung in English could be classics. In France he sold millions of albums but seldom knew outside of his home country. Most of his songs were inspired by British bear bands and sometimes he came close to bands like The Kinks. Maybe some of you will remember Mungo Jerry's Alright, Alright, Alright which was copied by one of his songs.
