Two days ago Serge Gainsbourg died and I think it is time to remember one of the greatest singer/songwriter from France ever. Not only because of his duets with Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin or his songs for France Gall he was a leading figure of the  Yé-Yé movement which could be described as the French pendent to beat music. I have to admit that I always had a fondness for chansonniers because they had mostly something to say. 50 years ago Gainsbourg released his masterpiece with a concept album telling the story of 15-year-old Melody, played and sung by Jane Birkin, who is approached by a man, Serge Gainsbourg, at Rolls-Royce. He falls in love with the young girl, spends his most beautiful time with her and finally loses her in a plane crash. He was always radical in any way he made songs and telling stories and never mind what people thinking about his art. A hero of my very younger days and still one you can listen to in present times.

Let us take a step beck in the early 90s when electronic music became more and more famous in Great Britain. Leftfield was formed by former members/session musicians of band like Brand New Heavies and A Guy Called Adam. Their first release in 1995 hit me massive and made me look to the electronic side of music. It is still a music that's worth to listen to. If I name them as pioneers of electronic music I think I can't be wrong.

ZK - Sickening

It's late night and I crawl through my archives and found a a little masterpiece from a well known band in Germany. You might know The Toten Hosen but in their early times they called ZK what means to get your drinks come up again. Saw them when they were younger than 20 years and they played an extraordinary mix of punk, rock and rockabilly. Joining their concerts were great and I did not expect that they make the step into super stars. That's one song from their early times - simply rude but you could imagine how good they were. It is a song about a guy who wants to be like Conrad, the one who's the best in football and dancing and talking every women home. Another song how it feels jelously.
