It is my 59th birthday today and only one year until my age starts with a 6. I won't complain about the age or where the years broke down as long as I am healthy and in a good shape. A few days ago I talked to some long time mates about our age and finally we agreed that the older we get the closer we get to retirement. But as long music means a lot to me, I can explore new music and I don't think like old men I still feel fresh and lusty for life.
Probably all of you know how it feels when the calender shows that this day is your birthday. Another year older and closer to retirement. And every year I ask myself the questions: where is the last year's gone? Are you really that age? I know time is passing quickly and the more you work and the more you go your way (for me keep going on watching football, listen to music and meeting friends regulary) time slips through your fingers. When I remember the Glasgow days almost two weeks ago it feels like it was yesterday. And for the second question I don't feel that old. I am in a good shape and able to have fun. So my life is not too bad at all and it doesn't matter any age. For example: There is a guy who is born at the same day in the same year as me and do you really think Morrissey is an old man. So I will raise my glass and salute him. Happy birthday Moz.
Long time co-writer of Elton John, Bernie Taupin was also born on this day in 1950. Together they wrote many timeless songs that fit perfectly to other artists.
Jesse Valenzuela from the Gin Blossoms was born in 1962.
At least the oldest one I found was Charles Aznavour a French singer, actor, political activist and diplomat born in 1924. His song about his wife that let oneself go is still a favourite of mine.
On this day 57 years ago I was born and each year that passes brings me closer to 60. I am far away of moaning but more and more I think about the past and the future. Looking back in my life I still enjoy the great things that happened and what life gave to me. Looking forward I recognize that retirement will come to me in several years. Anyway, life is fantastic gift with all the worries that will come and go. As long as I have a few friends, books and music I will have a good time. Later these day I'll go to my local pub to meet some friends in the beergarden to have lunch and some beer.

A few days ago CC made a post about Rod Stewart's second LP Gasoline Alley. This record was one of the first I bought and it's still a favourite to me. Rod was the king of sentimental ballads in these days and only a few could transport emotions later like he did.
Looking what the future will bring I am exited for the release of the new record by The Kills. Also the second song of their new record is worth to be played at this place
