Kong

Bildergebnis für neneh cherry kong

Good news: Neneh Cherry is back and she announced the release of her new album. The first single Kong is out now and as hoped for nothing big has changed. For this song she has obliged two dimensions of the electronic music as producers: Kieran Hebden alias Four Tet who already primed "Blank Project" with his impressionistic Electronica and Robert "3D" Del Naja, Well, one of the foundation members of the TripHop institution Massive Attack. Together they have created a hypnotic night music in downtempo about which Neneh can spread out her voice - which still gets under skin. Also the text touches; a difficult balancing act between empathy and fury about the European refugee crisis.

Love forsaken, risk worth taking
Spearmint flavors, all my palate shudders
I’m a member of shattered illusions
And am I needless to say?
Another song, this is nothing new
But love is big in every man
Every nation seeks its friends in France and Italy
And all across the seven seas
And Goddamn guns and guts and history
And bitter love still put a hole in me

Replacing The Blues

Bildergebnis für mark lanegan and duke garwood

The older Mark Lanegan gets the more  he releases great albums. Most of us know him from the voice of many bands but now it seems that  he is drifting into blues schemas. His new collaboration with London-based multi instrumentalist Duke Garwood is a trip into dark blues. Mostly slowed down songs with ambitious sound. Lanegan's voice fits very well to the music Garwood is able to play. One more song that makes me want to listen to his upcoming album and a good start into the weekend.

Dieter Thomas Heck RIP

Bildergebnis für dieter thomas heck

I just got the news that Dieter Thomas Heck died yesterday at the age of 80. He was a radio DJ in Southern Germany and RTL. He got famous in 1969 when he started the monthly hit parade in German television. This was the first time when I got in contact with music at the age of ten. I was fascinated by watching the artists singing their songs live to a playback sound. The older I got the more my musical interests moved to different sounds like German Schlager. But D.T. Heck was the one that woke my love to music. These are some footages I grabbed in a few minutes from hit parade history and it's funny because there are more cover versions that I expected.

Rest in peace Dieter Thomas

A Good Day For The Damned

Bildergebnis für Jaya the cat

... is the newest album by Jaya  The Cat, a Boston based reggae, ska and punk-rock based band now living in Amsterdam. Formed back in the early 90's their founding members left the band and today some Dutch musicians keep their name alive. It is nothing more or less music you can enjoy it a pub at the weekend. But isn't it something you could go for?

I Got Clothes

Bildergebnis für kirchheim unter teck retro

A few days ago I got back to Barry Adamson's song I Got Clothes. It is a wonderful song and I am happy every time I return to it. The best version is the collaboration/remix by Factory's famous A Certain Ration. Much more funk inside the sound than before and close to get a classic record of mine.

Curse Of Lono

Bildergebnis für curse of lono band

Curse Of Lono is a British band playing an authentic American sound like they are from Texas or another southern state from the USA. As far as I know their name is a tribute to Hunter S. Thompson and his novel by the same name. As I Fell is their second album released these days. I can hear influences of Fury And The Slaughterhouse a German rock band from Hannover popular in the mid 90's here in Germany and bands I don't very firm like Dire Straits and Eagles. But their songs are warm and very emotional and can lead you through a finish of a hard working day. Their songs are more than average of many other bands in this genre. Handmade music for people that are interested old-fashioned handmade music. Far better than many other Americana bands these days.

Bildergebnis für thee oh sees

Thee Oh Sees are the band from San Francisco and are to release a new album. Their primary songwriter John Dwyer mix up again influences by garage rock, psychedelic rock and post-punk to his unique sound. Sentinent Oona is a spaced out song that is based on percussive verses that go to wild sections of outer space jazz where Dwyer's guitar battles with organ sounds.
