Listened To The Words Of Alexander Hacke

Two days ago I listened to a radio feature about Alexander Hacke former guitarist and bass player of Einstürzende Neubauten maybe which had a massive influence on electric music. Featuring his new biography he talked a lot of the times in the early 80s while he lived door to door to David Bowie and Iggy Pop. It was a very interesting and entertaining hour listen to him and his stories and I think a go out to buy his book. This are some songs they played based on Hacke's own choice.

Funky Friday





Back in the early 80s a band appeared named by a song by Dave Brubeck. Blue Rondo A La Turk were one of thosse bands a lot of my friends could agree with. Mainly influenced by Latin, Jazz and Pop they had a small success with Klactoveesedsteen.I saw them once live and they were totally different to all the other acts around. Dressed in sharp suits and wearing a tie they looked so different to all the punk and new wave bands. Later this Outfit ended in that so called New Romantic thing. It was a small Club in Munich and they played a real good concert with a lot of Improvisation of their Songs. Dominant was the funky bass and guitar added with a fantastic horn section. The band didn't exist for Long time and a few members moved to Matt Bianco. What I forgot was that this song was produced by Godley & Creme - but this is a story that should be told to another time.

Fat White Family - Again

I listened a lot to Fat White Family the recent days and it's making fun listen to them. Different sounds in each songs makes the record worth listening to. It's Raining In Your Mouth is just a bit of of psychedelic sound in a new rope. Nothing more or less than a trip back in time.

Daughter

The next days Daughter's second album Not To Disapear will be released. It's a band located in London with British, French and Switzerland members. Their sound is filled with big emotions and some kind of sentimental pessimism. The dark and emotional songs were led by the vocals of Elena Torra that can make you shiver if you are ready for it.

Twanging Tuesday # 90

I try to finish this series with # 100 and it is still difficult to find good and rare twangy tunes. This one is not a really true a twangy guitar but it's a classic rock song from the early 40s and covered by a lot of artists since then. But I never heard this version by Lemmy Kilmister and Johnny Ramone before. I think this will be an outtake of a session long time ago.

Lime Habit

Checking out the new releases I found the latest track of Policia, an American based band with a superb mix from alternative music and synthie pop. It's once more a track I can't get out of my head after I listened the first time to. Based on a steady beat some organ sound is placed to prepare the ground for the fantastic and clear voice of Channy Leaneagh.

Borders

I arrived at home after almost four weeks holiday in Sri Lanka. Totally recovered while doing nothing as sit beside the beach, reading the books I wanted to during the last month, having good meals and some good times with some friends down there. During the last weeks I didn't listen too much to music and I didn't followed the new releases. So I think that the next weeks will be filled with much work and to get an update what happened and what will happen in music. So for the start the latest single by M.I.A., the London based singer and producer with Sri Lankan roots (her father was a leading member of the Tamil Tigers and had to escape from his native country).
