Swing

Jose Gonzales is a Swedish indie-folk singer and songwriter and featured at this place a couple of years ago. I like him and his songs that have impacts of Carribbean and West-African sounds and always well arranged. So I couldn't imagine that any of this unique songs were good for a remix without losing original basic framework. And now Yugoslavia born house producer and DJ Solomun proved that it is possible. Probably with Half A Minute by Matt Bianco in his mind he layed a house-beat and flamenco percussion under vocal and instruments and created something new. Not another best song of the year but a very good one to start into a sunny Sunday.

 

Funky Friday





Back in the early 80s a band appeared named by a song by Dave Brubeck. Blue Rondo A La Turk were one of thosse bands a lot of my friends could agree with. Mainly influenced by Latin, Jazz and Pop they had a small success with Klactoveesedsteen.I saw them once live and they were totally different to all the other acts around. Dressed in sharp suits and wearing a tie they looked so different to all the punk and new wave bands. Later this Outfit ended in that so called New Romantic thing. It was a small Club in Munich and they played a real good concert with a lot of Improvisation of their Songs. Dominant was the funky bass and guitar added with a fantastic horn section. The band didn't exist for Long time and a few members moved to Matt Bianco. What I forgot was that this song was produced by Godley & Creme - but this is a story that should be told to another time.
