The Queen Is Dead

The news appeared right now that queen Elisabeth II died a few hours ago at the age of 96. She wasn't head of state but she was always present during my whole life. I don't have to judge if she did a good job or not but she always represent Britain for me - if only many people could agree with her. Who will be the next king, I don't know but anyway he will never get the respect and reference she got. Here are only some songs that came to my mind when I heard about her passing away.

Since today I am 62 years old, an age I couldn't imagine years ago. Normally I would celebrate my birthday with friends in a pub but the current times do not allow this. So I will do what is possible and meet a few friends in the park for a short time and couple of beers. I tried to find some songs with 62 or 59 in their titles but I have to admit that I didn't found one. So I decided to feature a song from times long gone by. The Housemartins released their debut in 1989 and sang on You keep it all in following lines: 'Just like that murder in #73 / Just like that robbery in '62 / With all there things that have happened to me / I keep it all in'. Still a fantastic song that will keep me moving forward.

Rotterdam

Hi, I'm back. Had some beautiful days in Cologne with my kids. We had some good talking and some constructive discussions about we done wrong throughout the last years. Sometimes it was hard to stand for all but now we found a solution to built up something new. It was a torture for me but an exemption as well. Now let's watch what the future will bring. Today Christiane will move back to Sri Lanka again. We fixed the details of our divorce and were both happy about this. We had yesterday another peaceful and happy evening and I ask myself why we couldn't had this the last years. Anyway - it's everything right we do it the way we do. The song I choose today is really nothing special but I think it is a song a lot of folks like to listen to and don't confess to this. I was always a fan to The Housemartins since they released their first record. They did a very good songs that were dominated by the voice of Paul Heaton. This is not typical for them but I love this song for so many years. And as Paul Heaton said on the back of the sleeve of his first record: Take Jesus - Take Marx - Take Hope.

Have a good rest oft the week friends
