Most Wanted Austria

Regular visitors on this site might know that occasionally cross the border to listen to Austrian radio. I know that they surprised me often with different stories, shows and so on. One of their last project is Most Wanted Austria, a reflection of 30 year of club music by Austrian artist. The quintessence is a top 50 of techno, house, downbeat, drum & bass or simple dance music. To be honest - many of these artists and songs were new to me but I enjoyed to explore the variety of 30 years in club music. Here are some songs I knew before and I was happy to hear them again in the radio show.

Elektro Guzzi is an Austrian acoustic Techno band. Influenced by Detroit Techno they play in the classical band setwith guitar, percussion and bass. Their intention is to follow own beginning in the otherwise sample-based electronic music.

Vienna based band Sofa Surfers were featured here several times and this track from their first album in 1997 shows what they are able to. Creating a sound between dub, techno and a wha-wha guitar was different when it was released but made me to dive deeper into their musical cosmos.

Beyonder Girl

Now, finally, I have one-week vacation. No appointments, meetings and project works more for the next days. When I take a look at the development in the bank I work in I come to the knowledge that a lot develops to the negative. More and more jobs are stroked, departing employees are not substituted any more and the work is distributed to less and less employee. A part of my work consists in defining the work routines to this change anew and introducing them. A lot would be easier if was available according to time for the introduction. But, as usual, everything should function immediately. Often I came home after ten, twelve hours working and have no muse to continue my blog.

Todays track is the newest release by Austrian electronic artists Sofa Surfers. The band exists since 1997 and their music is hard to describe. Hardly influenced by Dub and Techno they added over the years elements of downbeat and Trip Hop to their sound. Beyonder Girl a dark track, menacingly, lascivious. From the track there penetrates a brisk, almost quite bigbeat-like rock energy, at the same time he emits a sensitivity, above all transported by the song. Wildly combination, deep, down and dirty.

Chemical Reasons

White man can do dub. This is a song by Markus Kienzl, member of the Sofa Surfers, an Austrian band which have plumbed the possibilities of electronic music. It is a dub version and it sounds very well in my opinion. For me it's an eclectic mixture of House, Dub and post-new wave music. Give him a listen and enjoy.
