Get Into It

The first song this week I would like to feature is more than retro and it comes from the The Strypes, an Irish band which plays in the tradition of pure Rock 'n' Roll and blues. Deeply infected by all the 60s blues rock bands and the early Dr. Feelgood and pure pub rock. Not much to say but dirty sweaty and sexy Rock 'n' Roll. Not the music for every time but right know it hits my taste. And when did I heard a harp in song (it must be many years ago).

Twanging Tuesday # 39

Today's twanging sound comes from a band I've featured a several times over the last years. The Flamin' Groovies were an American rock band which reached it's peak in the seventies when they were named as a band that made punk and new wave possible. I think this is too much honor for them. They were just a regular rock 'n' roll band who are able to play in various kinds of genres. Not too bad, but their influence in modern music was taken too high. Anyway, they were a band that played some real great guitar-heavy songs. This one is one of their songs I like much because it's just reduced to some simple riffs on the guitar. Lyrics and the rest doesn't mean much. It's just the sound of the guitar - and it's worth in my opinion to be featured in this series.

Even if it is just Tuesday it could be a day to start with a Rockabilly classic by Eddie Cochran. I love this tune and the sense behind when a guy want to visit his girlfriend and the elevator is out of order, arriving and being too tired to huge and the rest. Eddie Cochran gone to fast but his legacy is great.
