New Song On Sunday

Wolf Alice are an English indie-rock band formed in 2010 as an acoustic duo by singer Ellie Rowsell and guitarist Joff Oddie. After a few years with less success they decided to perform as a real band. Since that time they got a lot of critical acclaim for their sound somewhere between indie-rock, folk, pop and shoegaze.

This week they released the third single form their upcoming album The Clearing. And it seems that they developed their sound into another dimension. Drummer Joel Amey took over the lead vocals and Rowsell soprano is the backing voice. The song is built on an krautrock beat, 70's rock guitars and a little psychedelic touch. Sounds unbelievable but it works as a great single.

Delicious Things

Wolf Alice are back and released another song from their last album Blue Weekend. And one more time the song lives by the voice of Ellie Rowsell. She is able to sound between Sarah Nixey from Black Box Recorder and Sarah Cracknell from Saint Etienne. The sound is still the same - a washed-out wall of sound with guitars and a few electronics. Also nice listening to her experiences on the west-coast.

Teenage Headache Dreams

Bildergebnis für mura masa

A few days ago I got the news that Alex Crossan aka Mura Masa a electronic producer and songwriter from Guernsey will release a new album. I liked his first one a few years ago because his sound you couldn't really catch. It was a mixture of currently hip music combined with African and world music. So I looked forward if he continues his work or if I get something different. And he didn't made the mistake to copy his sound. Instead he replaced the marimbas for grumpy guitars. This album features also collaborations with other artists. On this song he collaborates with Wolf Alice's Ellie Rowsell and it one of the best new rock-pop songs I listened in this short year. A teenage drama many of us can understand or made similar experiences - and a great video by the way.
