House On Fire

There is obviously nothing that there is not. This was the first thought when I had a listen to Montreal's Elephant Stone's new album. I never thought that a combination of classical Indian instruments like sitar and tablas could be integrated into a psychedelic guitar-pop sound. But it works very well listen to some trippy guitars and in the best moments on House on Fire they pick up the melodic of the Stone Roses debut album. Maybe the greatest compliment I can give to them.

Swerve

Their is a record compilation out now I thinking about to buy. Manchester North Of England shows on seven CD's the musical evolution of this city from the early Buzzcocks to Oasis. Filled with bands from the independent era of the mid 70's to the end of the 80's. Many of them are new to me, others I didn't heard before. One of them I remember well because they were played often in various locations in my hometown. Dub Sex was another brilliant and sadly forgotten Manchester band playing alongside with Happy Mondays and Stone Roses when the came through. I still can enjoy their rough industrial sound. Probably one of the essences that made punk great.



The band reunited a few years ago and I found a footage from gig they played in December 2014. Great stuff.

Electric Eye

Norway is the country listeners will associate with AHA and not in the first degree with psych-rock these days. Electric Eye is one of those new bands that made a record that fascinated me when I listened to the first time. Four guys from Bergen made a record and they describe their sound as True Norwegian Psych-Drone-Groove-Kraut-Rock. And for true - I can hear Can, Wooden Shjips, a bit of early T. Rex and the funky beats of Stone Roses in their sound. The songs on their latest record Different Sun from early this month are more jams than structured songs. Wailing guitars of a steady beat with a voice from the back of the room make me feel great. I am exited about this full sound. Not the next big thing for sure but a record I will listen to often in the future. Play it loud and I think you will enjoy.

Fraezy

I know that Wolf Alice is the newest hype and the next big thing in British music press. Anyway, I got the latest album and have to say that their are worth listening to. It's a bit like a journey through the history of indie music and they try to combine a lot of influence in their songs. An example: Freazy with it's cool groove and echoes reminds me on the Rave-O-Lution days and Stone Roses.


You're a Germ with it's crispy guitar riffs could be a song by Blur long time ago.



Wolf Alice accomplished the different influence into very own songs that getting better the often you listen to it. If you do you'll find a lot of gems on this record.
