Death Mask

Richard Fearless announced an new album by his project Death In Vegas after almost ten years. The Contino Sessions from 1999 was highlight in electronic music because their were used real instruments and filled with great songs. So my expectations were high when I listened to his new songs.

I can't judge the whole album because only two songs were pre-released but what I heard made me want to listen to the others. Fearless returned to minimal industrial techno with a cinematic drone sound. A pulsate rhythm starts and electronic synths add taking over the guidance without leaving the ground and take you to a mystery ground.

The Contino Sessions

Short before the turn of the century Richard Fearless released with his band Death In Vegas a classic record that I rediscovered a few days ago. I got this record by recommendation by a friend and what I heard blew my mind. I seldom listened to an album that was different and never boring. A melange of loops inspired by The Velvets, JAMC and The Stooges and combined with the best electronic music could give you at this time. And it was no wonder that Iggy Pop, Bobby Gillespie, Dot Allison and Jim Reid appeared on this forgotten masterpiece.

Songs For Alpha

Bildergebnis für hannes steinert

The recent days I listened often to Daniel Avery's new album the B-sides and remixes from his last year record Songs For Alpha. I can't say if it is better than the original but these songs are fascinating me much today and they make me relax after a hard day at work. This is the remix of Days By Now made by Richard Fearless a pulsating and almost meditative piece of music. The picture above is a painting by Hannes Steinert, a local painter I know since he began with art with some other artists more than 40 years ago in a former factory at my place.
