Funky Friday

Bildergebnis für fad gadget

Back in the mid 80's it was a fine line between New Wave and electronic/industrial music. Not every fraction loved the other. But one all could agree was Frank Tovey aka Fad Gadget. He was one of the first who combined synthesizer sounds with the sound of found objects like bottles. Germany's Einstürzende Neubauten was another one and therefore it is reasoned that they had a guest appearance on Collapsing New People. It is one of the songs that coined the sound of the early 80's. Typing these words I remember one Fad Gadget's performances I was lucky enough to watch them live.

Ignore The Machine

Alien Sex Fiend started their music career with a homage to dark wave and far out dreams of a another life in another planets. Based on electronic and industrial sound they gave us the possibilities to look across the border to a new sound.  It's between late past-punk and early industrial music and they were pioneers in this genre. And this is one of my favorites from ASF.

Ignore the machine

Way back in 1983 this song was on heavy rotation in all the clubs and pubs I used to go. It was the first release of Alien Sex Fiend a band became known in the gothic scene for its psychobilly, dark electronic, industrial sound, heavy samples and loops and manic vocals. They released several records and singles but they never reached that hypnotic sound on this level again. It's amazing how I chosen this song for today. Inspired by the regular Friday post from Bagging Area I thought that I should post a song that sounds like rockabilly.
