Back then in the early 80's The Cure appeared on my radar as an interesting band that was worth to investigate more. The Cure made a sound like I have never heard before. All songs are ruled by a dominant bass and are carried by a sentimental sad voice. The Cure accompanied me after their first songs until now. Also their videos had a somber and dark attitude. I liked to watch them again.
Enjoy.

If you're not familioar with Eagulls, Walter, give them a go. They have a definite early-Cure vibe to them.
The first time I saw The Cure in 1979, they were supporting Siouxsie & the Banshees and Robert Smith played for both bands. The last time I saw them in 1989, they played a 4 hour set at Wembley Areana. They could do very little wrong for me during that whole period. Tim Pope's videos were fantastic too.
I saw them first in 1980 in a small club in Stuttgart. The supporting act was Abwärts, one of the first punk bands in Germany. After their both appearances they made a session playing classic songs from the early punk times. It was that kind of awesome and still makes me my hairs on the arms stand up when I think of this show.
