Continental Tuesday # 3

A cryptic and disturbing sound come from France by Phoebe Killdeer. She's a Paris born Australian. From her early days she was engaged in music and worked later as an audio engineer in Spain and England. Her career as a vocal artist started almost 15 years ago when she were the voice of Nouvelle Vague and Basement Jaxx. Since then she made a few solo records with a a gloomy and electric sound. Her latest songs was a collaboration with two Berlin based sound designers and experimental musicians, Ole Wulfers and Thomas Mahmoud-Zahl, The result is music which sounds minimal and full blast at the same time, abstract and concrete, dirty and clean. Not the music for everyone but new, fresh and interesting.

Bristol

Over at the Austrian radio station FM4 the French producer and musician Marc Collin presented his latest project Bristol live. You might know him as the producer of Nouvelle Vague when he covered punk and New Wave songs into a Bossa Nova style. Now it seems he's on the way to give great songs of the TripHop era a new face. He picked out lot of my favorite songs and made a very own interpretation of them. It's not only covered - these versions show the great respect he has to this songs and he reduces them to their basics. Often with soft drums, a picking guitar that fades into psychedelia and an accentuated bass.

Working week ahead

Hi there,
weekend is nearly over and we can start a new week working. Had me a peaceful weekend watching football, listen to music, searching the internet and relaxing. So I can start the forthcoming week very easily, because I am satisfied on my own with no worries on my back. Therefore let's pick up some tune I hear so often when I'm on myself.

Not the origin version by the Clash - just a very good version from a french band, who covered a lot of great 80th tunes in a special jazzy style.
