Rocket Man

There are less artists that accompanied me during the last decades and one of them was Reginald Kenneth Dwight better known as Elton John. Today he can celebrate his 75th birthday and looking back on an astonishing career. From the early days when he worked with Marc Bolan and Pete Townshend over his successful collaboration with Bernie Taupin he was always present in my musical education. And yes, I always had hidden fondness to him, his songs and voice.

Happy Birthday Sir.

The Age Of Glam

Bildergebnis für t. rex band

Like many others 45 years ago Marc Bolan and T.Rex introduced us to rock music. We didn't know that this music will be called glam. Anyway we went and bought theirs singles or albums. T.Rex will be often named when someone is talking or writing about glam and the early 70's music. Not only for sentimental reasons - their songs were superb arranged, catchy and worth to be listened decades later.

And as a bonus: A live version of this song done by Morrisey

Mambo sun

Think it's a good idea to start the day with a little glam rock. Back to the days when narrow trousers, sild shirts and shoes with platteau soles were the last big thing. Ask myself how we could walk around this style. But anyway T. Rex and Marc Bolan was at the best on their second record released in 1971 called 'Mambo Sun'. This is the opening track from this record and it still sounds great to me (maybe just because I'm sentimental to these days).
