The Great Regression

 

The first thing that came to my mind when I read the reviews of The Great Regression the debut album by Brighton's Ditz please not another hype of a post-punk band. When I listened to this album I have to say: yes, it is another album by a UK post-punk band - but what a fantastic one. Sure, this kind of music was made by The Idles or Foals before but not with a verve like this. This album has the abilities to get one of those guitar dominated albums you will find in several year's end lists. Beautiful white noise has not been heard on a current punk album for a long time, so well lubricated industrial rhythms also not. After all an album that will stand the test of time in this genre.

Mountain At My Gates

Foals will release their new record these days called What Went Down. I like their releases because it is a mixture of several styles, interpreted in a very own style. I hear a lot of prog-rock, guitar-based rhythms and Krautrock in their music. After all they are doing well arranged songs with complex rhythms, various breaks and melodies as well. It is always fun listening to their output and I hope the record will be as good as the now released single cut.

Recommended from my brother

During the last weeks I had a lot of work to do at the office. Occupied with calculations, controlling, development of new uses I had after end of work not the muse to see after what there is new in music. The more thankfully I am, that to me my brother posted me his favorites from 2013 so far on facebook.

Yesterday I took some time to check out what he recommend to me. Without him I still would know the The Foals released a new record. I knew them from their last two records and I was curious whether they could hold her standard. I was not really surprised that they made again a record you could listen with fun in the future but this is a really amazing record. It is sad, that less people in my country know them (not you and your friends Martin) and  I wish them a bigger audience.
