Black And White

Almost 40 years ago the first album Stands for Decibels by The DB's was released. In times where new sounds were created Chris Stamey and Peter Holsapple dared to take a look back in history and combined 60's pop, collage rock and psychedelia to their own definition of power-pop. I have to admit that I always had an affection to jangly guitar pop and great short songs. Even if times fly away their songs still sound fresh and are worth to be played once again.

One year later they released a second album before they disbanded. Amplifier is another three minute song about separation of a couple but seldom with that kind of funny wink.

What Happened To Power Pop # 6

The dB's were an American power-pop band that released their first two records in the early 1980s. They played a fine combination of classic rock with a heavy influence of early power-pop. Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey, their main songwriters, were found later after their break up as solol artists and on tour with REM or as producers. Their legacy was some real good power-pop songs.
