Yesterday Jacob Arjouni died at the age of 48 years at cancer. He was a writer, and his books have accompanied me in the last 25 years. He created in his books characters who are very dear to me. His most famous character is likely the Frankfurt privat eye Kemal Kayankaya have been. Certainly not a shining hero, more of a man with all his weaknesses and a large heart. The stories are all in Frankfurt between the main station and the red light district where mean people doing their jobs
My favorite book from him is Magic Hoffmann. It's about three friends who jointly carry out an attack in which one is arrested and convicted. Shared in confidence that the money looted after his release, he does not betray his accomplices. How bitter the reunion with his friends after his release is and how dreams get a human being alive can be disappointed, I have to read this way, neither before nor after. It is certainly not world literature, but as he has characterized the people as warm and empathetic and written about the everyday are, make him unforgettable for me

Without any announcement - only a sentimental song with the fantastic line:
Only if everything is a shit life makes sense again
