Blackpool's post-punk band The Membranes released a new record after a long time planning it. Although John Robb left the band the make today a guitar based dark sound. Sometimes I think it is close to core-metal but then I was overwhelmed by the deep and fat sound. Not everyones choice but worth to listen to sometimes.

This is not usually my kind of thing, but I've already heard a couple of tracks that have intrigued me, so I'm definitely going to check out more.
It's not my cup of tea as well, Swede. But as you said, I think it's worth checking out more.
