Keep The Devil Within

Sometimes it takes a long time for a musician to release his first album. Paul McCann, an Irish singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and part of various bands, needed to wait more than 20 years for his first album. The result is nothing more or less a journey back to the days of power-pop and handmade music. I don't know much about his career but listening to his songs there is no doubt that he worked for a long time to finish the songs. References? Sometimes the songs reminds to Fountains Of Wayne and in the best times to Big Star.

September Girls

It is not too bad when you name your band by a song from Big Star. And if you sound like a noisy version of British independent music it is much better. This five piece Dublin based band released a few weeks ago a record that could be great when it was released 30 years ago. It's an euphoric guitar/organ based sound with voices deep in the tradition of the well known punk sisters. To describe them in a simple way I would name them the nowadays guitar based Bangles.
