Purchased Because Of The Cover

Sometimes it is very easy to pique someones curiosity. Take a picture picture of a barely undressed flamenco dancer that looks like a yellowed picture from decades ago. This happened in 1988 when I was in the record shop looking through the new arrivals when Pixies first album Surfer Rosa came to my eyes. No further information about the band and were they came from made me grab this album to have a listen in the shop. Then the owner told me that it isn't necessary because it is my taste and I will buy it after the second song is finished. I trusted him like many times and purchased the album and I didn't regret to it. Boston's Pixies were a band a lot of people could agree with. Surfer Rosa has so many different styles and influences I seldom heard before on an album. Pop guitar songs were featured alongside to slower and more melodic tracks to get to a heavy sound. It is still a benchmark bands from this genre ought to measure.

Pixies - Where Is My Mind
Pixies - Gigantic
Pixies - Vamos
Pixies - Bone Machine

Rol hat gesagt…

It is a great album but I never even noticed the cover when I bought it on CD (too small). Another reason to miss big old album covers.
