Axial Age

Justin Robertson is a veteran of British electronic underground music for many years. He released a lot of great tracks with his project Deadstock 33s during the last years. Now he's back with a new EP of electronic sounds featuring a very own mixture of slow down electronic funk that is similar to Jan Hammer's soundtrack to Miami Vice. Not a bad way for a new inspiration.

Miami Vice

This day 70 years ago Jan Hammer was born in Prague. He's one those pioneers that brought synthesizers and moog into modern jazz music. He first got attention by his collaboration with Al Di Meola and his appearance on Billy Cobham's album Stratos, one of the best albums in the early 70's of jazz fusion sound. He got famous as he made a contract of writing the title track and the soundtrack of the American series Miami Vice. I don't know if you remember these days but for me it was essential to watch every episode of this series.

Cream On Chrome

These days the temperature will rise up to 35 degrees. Too hot to work and even too hot to sit in a beergarden. So the best will be to sit at home having a cool drink by your side and listen to some music. Ratatat is an American Indietronic band from New York and they are going to release their new record these days. I found this song by a recommendation by a friend and it's a little piece of music you can listen in the summertime. With it's marching rhythm, the wailing guitar and the synthesizers it seems like a hybrid of Daft Punk, Harold Faltermeyer and Jan Hammer (remember Miami Vice). Not really the next big thing but a song for hot days.
