Saint Etienne released their 10th album I've Been Trying To Tell You a last week and for me it is one of the album highlights this year so far. 30 years after their groundbreaking album Foxbase Alpha they are still at the height of time. The rhythm and sound is still reduced to middle and minimum but they are still able to surprise me with great grooves. Penlop is one of the highlights of this album that grows the more you listen to it. Good to have them back and that some things don't change and remain in high class.

Have to say (and I may be in the minority here) but I am so disappointed with the new Saint Etienne album. Where are the songs? Sarah is almost absent from the record. They are such a great pop band and songwriters, yet they've eschewed their strengths and everything that makes them unique for this album.

Love this- the album is a beauty, a semi- ambient, melancholic, swirl
