There are bands living in their own cosmos making music far away from trends and hipness. The Monochrome Set are one of them. Formed in the late 70's the were at the start when post-punk started. Known by classics like He's Frank and Jet Set Junta they turned into the search of the perfect pop song like Prefab Sprout did as well. They released their 13th record a few days ago. Cosmonaut is an album that shows everything The Monochrome Set was loved during the last years. Easily swinging guitars with a big addiction to the 60's veterans like The Shadows. Their songs maybe called timeless and if timeless means you can listen with pleasure in a few years than I will call them timeless. The band seem to occupy a parallel universe, with a rich panoply of sounds and words, all somehow evocative of something just beyond reach or remembrance - yet the songs have an immediate simplicity and power.
