Viet Cong ...

finished to  be a band with this name. There were too many controversy about her name remaining the original Viet Cong with these words: "We are a band who wants to make music and play our music for our fans. We are not here to cause pain or remind people of atrocities of the past". Viet Cong made one of the best records in 2015 and they went out of my radar since they changed their name last year. Now they want to be named by Preoccupations and nothing changed in their music since then. It is an forgotten masterpiece from last year's record. The LP with the same title has it all: powerful noisy post-punk songs, a little bit of psychedelic and futuristic elements that sometimes reminds to Blade Runner. If I got closer to this record it would be in my last year rundown. Pure music to pure people. Try this.

Preoccupations - Anxiety
Preoccupations - Zodiac
Preoccupations - Degraded
Preoccupations - Memory

This Year's List 15/15

From Calgary, Canada, Viet Cong appeared with an album in the Tradition of post-punk added with a lot of industrial music. This album recorded last year brings back the time when in music everything was possible and new. Songs with stoic industrial grooves, wailing guitars and a voice that fits perfect to the songs. I'm not sure if this record will be a mark but I supect more bands will appear with this post-punk/industrial sound.

Death

Listen to Viet Cong, a new band from Alberta, reminds me on the glorious 80s. Stylistically it is everything held in grey. Everything what sounds possibly bleak, dreary and hopelessly was added together to a sound to create it rushes so properly and scratches to play then all these groups: Joy Division, Bauhaus, Suicide, Shoegazer-Indie, as well as the usual in the meantime Krautrock and Industrial loans. But they are worth to be listened. Especially 'Death' - a 12 minute excursion in guitar sound. Sometimes slow, sometimes fast and not a dull moment.
