Bonus Post: Liverpool 3 : Manchester City 0

Bildergebnis für ray wilkins manchester united

After another stressful day in the office I decided to grant to me something good. I opened a bottle of vine and checked out a video stream of the Champions League quarter-final Liverpool against Man City. Expecting a good and intensive game I was surprised about the first half. It was a long time ago since I watched a team ruling the game like Liverpool did. City had no chance at all against the will and the power of Liverpool. The second half was dominated by Manchester but I had no doubt that Liverpool would leave the ground as a winner. And I am glad about this, because I really don't like Pep Guardiola. For me he is one of the most overrated manager today. Like he did in Germany a few years ago he segregated with his team in the quarter-final. Congratulations to Jürgen Klopp for preparing his team well.

And let us remember to one of the best English football players of all time - Ray Wilkins who died too soon.
Rest well.

It's A Small Line Between Indie-Rock and Power Pop

Bildergebnis für Kenny Dalglish

During the last days I rediscovered Pete and the Pirates, an Indie-rock band from Reading. They released their first full length album Little Death in 2008. It is pure fun listening to the music they made years ago. NME named their music perfect pop without pretence. For me it is a perfect combination of new-wave ingredients, classic British rock and Power Pop at it's best moments. I think you should listen to this song driving in an open sports car hiding to sundown.

Big Hard Excellent Fish

JC featured Pete Whylie yesterday on his terrific blog. For me, Pete Whylie is one of the most underrated artists in the post punk/new wave era. What ever he did, he made it with great empathy and he was always open for something new. Watching his career go for JC's page. Reading his post it inspired me to post a song which he released as Big Heart Excellent Fish. Imperfect List is one of these songs when they appear to me I get into a sentimental mood. Most of the words that was spoken touches my heart and I ask myself why is the world that it is now. You can add to the lyrics of this song what happened the last years. IS, refugees, war in middle east, unemployment, health service,  ... It will ever be an unfinished list. So sad about it - but it's the fact of life we have to bare.
