Yesterday, HMHB announced the release of their new album for next month. It certainly won't be the next big thing, but as heard on the pre-release single, but Nigel Blackwell stays true to his line. Short, grating songs with satirical, sardonic, and sometimes surreal songs. Good to have them back again.

Bonus Post: England Can Penalty

Congrats to England after a hard fight against Columbia. It was a drama but England won this game because after all they were the better team. The Three Lions were the better team over the official time and I couldn't understand why they gave the win away in the extra time. But they fought during the extra time. Gareth Southgate, the one that failed against my team years ago made everything right against the South American team. Now it seems that everything is possible for England. Winning against Sweden and the There Lions are in the semi-final of this tournament. It is exactly this what I expected from them. Go on.

Old Vine In New Bottles

This is not a cover version in the classic way. But HMHB made a unique version at a Peel-session years age based on the old Leadbelly song. Not taking the words one by one and adding an accordion to their sound. I always loved HMHB and their humour in music making cover versions with new lyrics in their very own style. It is a classic song that sounds great in almost every version ever made. Here are some examples of what could be interpreting this old song.

Congrats Wales

The game between Wales and Belgium just ended and I am so happy that Wales reached the semi final of the UEFA Euro 2016. It was a very interesting game to watch and it was more than earned that Wales won this game. I supposed before that Wales would win because they are a TEAM, playing with hope in their hearts and I am looking forward to the next game. Hope they kick out Portugal and fucking CR7. Anyway, watching the games of Wales were the greatest fun in this tournament (except Iceland of course).

There were times, when I have bought an album only because of the cover. I think it was in the early 80s when I went to my local record store digging the box of new entries and I held The Jazz Butcher's Scandal In Bohemia the first time in my hand. It was just the comic cover that made me going to the turntable to listen to this record. And listening to the first song on this record Southern Mark Smith I was sure that this record was mine. SMS was one of those pop hymns you listen once and will never forget. But the rest of album wasn't bad at all. It is not easy to describe the sound of The Jazz Butcher because their songs were too different to classify them to one genre. Funny songs with winking lyrics might be the best description. Half Man Half Biscuit had the same kind of humour.

Indie Scene 1986

All things come to an end and so is this little series. It made a lot of fun to me crawling back into the days British independent music made it marks in history. Following the chronology of this kind of music development shows that I still stuck deep into this music.

With Goth On Our Side

Lot of difficult work to do these days. Used to come home after nine hours in the office and no sense of going out for a beer. Just to spent some times with my records and a glass of red wine to finish the day. Here's a song from our hero from Birkenhead, Merseyside. It is always good to hear his songs with a little sarcastic tenor. I think I go for the Neville Brothers next.

National Day

Today Germany celebrates again the day of German unity. Like most of the times I ask myself what's to celebrate. Of course it commemorates the anniversary of the German reunification in 1990 when they signed the contract to be a united state. But I was more impressed on the day the Berlin wall came down in November 1989 when the people of the German Democratic Republic were able to go to the west as free people. To feel as one nation is worth to celebrate but there happened a lot of things since that time that really are not worth to be celebrated. I still remember our chancellor Dr. Helmut Kohl promised us blossoming sceneries in the newer future. But he and his fucking government cheated us with their lies and the cost of the unity. Even if we don't feel it now in our purse we will feel it when we get retired. More and more retired people have to live on the lowest level even if they have paid their contribution to the social security for more than 40 years. Not that anyone misunderstands me: I feel good with all the united people (except the new right wing fascists) and have a couple of good friends with eastern German origin - it makes me sick when I see them politicians beating themselves on the shoulders, not seeing the real problems we have.

I don't know why but there is just one song in my head that fits to this.

Problems with the download

Every post I did in the last three month I supported a band/song to your pleasure/download. Now I got some comment that the download from box.net does not work in cast that your access is not allowed or the file is deleted. Yesterday I checked my settings again and relaunched my last blog.

Please try to download some songs - even older ones from the last month and tell me, if it works. If it does not work I would be grateful for some advises to let it work.
