After The Election

Bildergebnis für election

Last weekend we had elections for our local parliament and I was shocked how the Germans voted. In all three parliaments the right wing parties were voted for the state parliament. I am concerned that almost 15% voted for the right wing party with it's only aim don't letting foreign people in to my country. Main reason was the fear of refugees coming to our place. I think it is a shame to treat people who leave their homeland for a life in peace like a lot of people do in my country. All refugees have the right to stay in my country - whatever it may cost. We spent a lot of money buying helicopters that couldn't fly or arms that doesn't work in a combat zone. All arguments are populist and go without reason. But I am glad that in my local country green politicians have the chance to rule for the next years. After I got the final results last evening I listened to Jeff Beck's first record after a longer time. It is still blues-rock but what he did almost 50 years ago is still over the top. Rod Stewart on vocals was never better than in this time. His voice was equal to Beck's guitar playing. Truth is still a classic record that should be played from time to time.

Jeff Beck - Shapes Of Things
Jeff Beck - Morning Dew
Jeff Beck - You Shook Me
Jeff Beck - Ol' Man River

Wise words, Walter, I'm ashamed to say that I'm afraid of the times to come here in Germany ... politically and socially. Feel free to blame both on those fucking Nazis!

Wise words indeed Walter and not just in Germany I fear

This godforsaken country looks to be heading in a similar direction. The right shouts loudest and drowns out all reasoned, logic argument. The tired, disillusioned populace just want someone to blame for their hardship. They hear the right and think: "That'll do."

I actually wish it were more complicated than that, but I actually don't think it is...

As CC says, these extreme views aren't confined to Germany I'm afraid.

The guys who came in here yesterday have said it all. Extremism is worryingly on the rise in many places.
