Kieran Hebden is back with a new record. He is perhaps better known as the head of Four Tet, his electronic playground, and for his many remixes in recent years. Now he has teamed up with William Tyler to break new ground. At the beginning of this century, Tyler was a member of Lambchop and the Silver Jews, who reinterpreted country music at the time.

In recent years, several bands such as the Nashville Ambient Ensemble have demonstrated that country and electronic music are entirely compatible. Here, Hebden and Tyler take an old song by Lyle Lovett, break it down into its individual parts and then reassemble it as if it were a single piece.

I don't want to deprive you of the wonderful original.

Friday's Cover

The recent days I listened after a long time once again to The Sisters Of Mercy and their very popular song song This Corrosion from 1987. It brought back memories from a long time ago but this gothic sound doesn't fit to me any more. Then I remembered  that Lambchop made a cover version of this song that fits better to song. Kurt Wagner shows his abilities to adapt a song that is not quite familiar to his sound and make a better version than the original. I really love this laid-back and relaxed version of a song that was played in every discotheque 30 years ago. This is only my opinion but maybe it would be a series of cover versions that are better than the original.

Over at The Swede's place you find a link to a record that is on his heavy Rotation right now. All of them are intresting and inspiring and often you can find real nuggets there. One of those is the latest record by Nashville based musician and compser William Tyler Modern Country a record that I listen often in the early nighttime when I just wanted to listen to handmade and relaxed music. He's on the Nashville Scene for many years and toured and played with Lambchop or The Silver Jews before he turned into developing his very own kind of music. I like him for the way he Plays his acoustic guitar in his very unique way. Songs you can listen to and forget almost everything what was in your mind before.



Another well record I enjoyed much this year comes by a Denish project called Western Skies Motel. Acoustic Music on a very high level. Tbey self call their Music like dry wind in the praire. And they are not far away from this. This Music could work on an old Italien Western when someone sitting on the porch, watching the dessert and waiting for someone to arrive.

There is with certainty a lot what one with Germany connects, but with certainty not Country music. But there is one band that I used to listen during the last years a lot. Fink were an independent band that was formed by Nils Koppruch in Hamburg in the mid 90s in Hamburg. Main influences were bands like Lambchop and Giant Sand. During the years they have extended their style by reggae, chansons and a little bit of funk. Very briefly I love her music above all at later time in the evening with a good glass of red wine. Simply relaxing and a perfect finish after a busy day.

Seems like the weather will change throughout the next days. After a period of sun and higher temperature we'll going into a wet and cold period. According to this I will post a song that makes you feel warmer (hopefully). Lambchop is an American band associated to the Alternative Country music. But there music is much more. They have influences from soul, post-rock and lounge music as well. This song is from their album Nixon released in 2000. A little gem with only a picking guitar added with string and horn arrangements. A song perfect for a lazy Sunday morning.
